Our first wedding video production of the the year, was a fantastic affair! Event with my background as a disc jockey I love bands, there is no energy like a live band and The Dennis Keith Experience rocked the Palais Royale like few can.
About this wedding trailer. You will notice if you have watched any of our previous wedding trailers that I will use prerecorded songs. I am always looking for something unique and not just the standard sappy wedding song when creating these wedding trailers. I also like finding an audio hook from the day to incorporate into the wedding trailer so that the viewer is transported to the day with more than just visuals. For my all time favorite (so far) wedding trailer it was the phenomenal homily that the priest delivered about love, that became the day’s audio hook. For the wedding trailer for Kate & Brian the day’s audio hook and the song converged into one. Half way through the first dance song grandma joined in the rendition of That’s Why They Call It The Blues.
The song presented one problem, their grandma joined in half way through and during the time period when she worked her way up to the stage, there isn’t much happening, the band is playing but the lead singer is coaching grandma to the stage. So I had to join the earlier vocals with the later and excise the talking.
If you are a Notre Dame University graduate or a member of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart Church on the campus the day when the books are opened for 2010 weddings is around the corner. March 2nd is the day when you can schedule your 2010 wedding. Our friend Cynthia Basker of Celebrated Events has written a blog for brides and grooms how to assure that you are able to schedule your wedding at the Basilica. It’s full of very useful information and I suggest if you are planning to have your wedding at Notre Dame check it out!
Wedding Day Encore! What is a Wedding Day Encore? Well WEVA calls it in their Creative Excellence Awards an Instant Edit. The name that most videographers and cinematographers use is Same Day Edit. I don’t like either name so I coined Wedding Day Encore for use at River City Productions. A Wedding Day Encore is where we take the footage shot during preparations, the ceremony and the formals and cut it down to a 5 to 10 minute video and show that at your wedding reception. Yes you read that right! At your reception if you choose the Wedding Day Encore feature, you and your guests will be able to relive the earlier part of the day! And you will be able to take part of your wedding film with you on DVD on your honeymoon! Watching a Wedding Day Encore can be very emotion, fun, exciting and filled with laughter. On a lark during the playback of the Katie and BrianWedding Day Encore, half way through I turned on the camera and captured out bride and grooms’ reactions as they watched. Below is that video synced with the Wedding Day Encore. Excuse the shot of the floor, I started off shoulder mounted but when you are trying to shoot something 60 feet away, keeping the image steady for an extended period is nearly impossible so I moved to remount the camera on the tripod. I decided to just leave the floor shot in as I move to the tripod since this video isn’t intended to be featured in their final wedding film. Otherwise enjoy and witness the power of the Wedding Day Encore!
Katie & Brian were married on a beautiful summer day on the campus of the University of Notre Dame in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart with the reception following under the tent at the Morris Inn. For us this wedding was a special one, since we showed at the reception our first Same Day Edit or as I prefer to call it a Wedding Day Encore in three years and only the second one we’ve ever done! At 8PM that night, the newlyweds and their guest laughed and cried to memories just hours before.
Katie and Hamish had a beautiful wedding at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of Notre Dame University. Their reception followed at the Palais Royale. This is one of my favorite wedding trailers so far. Enjoy!

If you are a bride or groom this won’t have much impact for you, but it never ceases to be exciting for me when a magazine publishes anything that I write! So to toot my own horn, WEVA (Wedding & Event Videographers Association International) published my review of SpeedEDIT.
